ASSESSMENT AND PROMOTION

Classes XI & XII

Promotion from class XI to XII is given only to those students who secure 33% marks in all the subjects in the Annual Examination. In the case of subjects involving practical work, a student must obtain 33% marks in theory and 33% marks in practical separately in order to qualify for promotion.

Classes IX & X

Scholastic Area

The assessment will be done considering the entire year as a Term. The overall % will be calculated taking into consideration student’s performance in Note book Upkeeping (5 marks) Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks), Periodic Tests (10 marks) and Yearly Examination (80 marks). 3 Periodic Tests will be administered viz. Pre mid Term, Half Yearly and Post mid Term of which the average of the best two will be recorded.

The grading Scale for the Scholastic Domain is based on a nine point grading scale.

Co Scholastic Activities

For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas are carried out and the students will be graded term-wise on a 5 point grading scale (A – E). The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork will be criteria for grading.

a. Work Education
b. Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)
c. Health & Physical Education (Sports/Martial/Arts/Yoga/NCC etc.)

Students will also be assessed for Discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and others. Grading will be done on a 5 point grading scale.

Classes VI to VII

Scholastic Area

The assessment will be done in two terms. The overall % will be calculated taking into consideration student’s performance in Note book Upkeeping (5 marks) Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks), Periodic Tests (10 marks) and Half Yearly/Yearly (80 marks).

The grading Scale for the Scholastic Domain is based on a nine point grading scale.

Co Scholastic Activities

The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork will be criteria for grading.

Classes I to V

From Classes I to V, every student’s performance in Scholastic, Co-scholastic and Personality Development areas will be observed based on a series of evaluations the average of which will be indicated in the Achievement Record twice in an academic year as Evaluation 1 and Evaluation 2. The assessment will be indicated in the Record as grades. A student should obtain at least a C Grade for promotion to higher classes.

Montessori

Though the school follows a no pass no fail system in the Montessori section, regular assessments will be conducted to ensure that the students achieve age related academic and non-academic proficiencies.

Note:

  • All assessment with regard to the academic status of the students shall be done in marks and overall assessment will be given in grades.
  • The students are expected to come well prepared for all examinations and tests. On no account the use of unfair means will be condoned.
  • Absence during examination will be viewed seriously and will affect the promotion of students.
  • Presence of the students throughout the academic year is obligatory as promotion is based on the day to day work of the students throughout the year which is evaluated through Periodic Assessments and also on the performance in the Terminal Assessments. Any student who absents himself/herself except in case of inability due to sickness and the like, will have to run the risk of being detained in the same class. Request for re-tests will not be considered.
  • Progress Reports will be issued to the parents after each assessment and parents are to meet the Principal to discuss remedial measures if the student has not reached the pass level.
